When the angel Gabriel came to Mary to tell her that she had been chosen to become the mother of God's only son, we hear the words, "Do not be afraid." Throughout our lives, there have been people who have given us reassurance and stayed with us even when we were afraid. God is like that. God meets us in our fear.
